Rural Community Support Organization (RUCOSUO) [pronounced: rue-co-sue] is a Maasailand grass-root non-profit and non-governmental organization established in 2015 and registered in 2017 (Registration#: 00NGO/0009388). RUCOSUO broad based activities are directed at coaching and training community leaders, local traders, women and youth. The organizationʼs focus is to enhance the sustainable development of Maasai in rural and natural resources by encouraging the practical use of solar energy technology. RUCOSUOʼs community and youth programs and projects aim to reduce poverty and create self-employment opportunities by focusing on the practical use of solar energy. Youth in the Simanjiro District receive limited formal education and cultivate few practical job skills, leaving them with limited job opportunities. The Maasai are pastoralist people living in dispersed settlements. They struggle to access energy and social services. RUCOSUO trains both boys and girls to be entrepreneurs and solar/environmental advocates. Workshop programs support them in establishing small businesses and enable them to join the growing regional solar workforce.

Strengthen the community capabilities by offering improved communication and training efforts. Communication efforts include radio broadcasting programmes and continuous trainings to improve social welfare and use of renewable energy.
